Sky Map

If you like to look up at the stars in the night sky, then you should check out Sky Map, an Android application – originally developed by Google, then open-sourced. Sky Map will “turn your Android device into a window on the night sky”. The Sky Map application senses the direction and angle that you’re holding your phone using its accelerometer, compass and internal GPS. The app then displays really cool things like constellations, which are actually labeled and outlined with images drawn with lines between the stars to form the constellation. You can compare the display on your screen with the night sky to try to identify the constellations yourself!

This application is great for stargazers and astronomy and astrology buffs who are curious as to why they might see designs between stars in the sky as well as to learn new astrological signs and more! Even if you’re not interested in astrology, astronomy or anything to do with stars or the night sky, you should still give this very cool app a quick try… You can easily find the Sky Map application by going to the Google Play store and doing a quick search for “Sky Map” without quotation marks or click the link below.
