Parallel Kingdom is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on Google Maps. Players can travel all across the world, claiming territory by ‘building flags’, which are used to travel and mark your territory. Players are also able to build cities in-game which closely match the locations of cities in the real world. Cities are build-able once the real-world population exceeds 2000 people, and all cities are built using data from the GeoNames database. A couple of the most popular features of Parallel Kingdom include: kingdoms – players can build kingdoms, rule kingdoms, strengthen kingdoms, go to war with other kingdoms, players and cities as well as make allies with other kingdoms; chat rooms – players from around the world can communicate with each other in real time, and with over 15 chat rooms to choose from including language-specific chat rooms, you’re sure to find some new friends; weapons, armor, ‘swag’, and much more – growing each and every week, the list of items such as weapons, armor, plants, materials and ‘swag’ is a rather large list that can keep almost any person busy for weeks when they’re trying to collect items!
